I’m bummed out but what can one do. My glucose readings were almost 300 after that nasty glucola drink, even 2 hours and 3 hours after I drank the stuff. I have a question, and I’m a nurse so I feel stupid for asking this and my diabetes class is next week, but I deal w/ adults who have like insulin dependent diabetes, not gestational. If I’m supposed to test 2 hours post prandial after meals, what If I have a snack an hour after I eat a meal? Do I then test 2 hours after the snack? One hour? I’m confused about this.
Also, can I eat fruit in small amounts here and there or do I need to nix it completely. I really don’t want to go on insulin or glyburide, and am trying to do this diet only. What are some good meal plans or websites??
Thanks
Ok so I flunked my 3 hour glucose tolerance test and I have gestational diabetes?

Gestational diabetes is often treated on a case-by-case basis. Some cases can be treated simply by diet modification and exercise, some cases need pills, some insulin injections and monitoring of the fetus. The only person who will be able to answer your questions is your doctor. You should call your OB’s office and ask the nurse what the proper treatment would be for you. Good luck!
