There is a hot chocolate mix- that is sugar free- and I was wondering if anyone knows if it is ok to have in Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet?

I would think that would be ok as long as there is no sugar and no/little carbs. If your looking for good hot chocolate try picking up Hershey’s or Ghirardelli powdered baking chocolate and follow the directions on the container to make hot chocolate except make it with splenda. I like to use one tablespoon cocoa mix and two tablespoons splenda. Melt together on the stove in a little but of water and then add milk. Really good and good for you. Hope this helps. : )
The diet Swiss Miss kind is even better – 4g carb, 2g protein and only 25 calories.
Stick to phase 1 like a religion! Phase 2 is less strict.

You have the book, I assume. It is good to read and has lots of yummy recipes. I think the milk in the hot chocolate is the bad thing but if you exchange it for your nightly dessert(I have blue bunny creamsicles, the ricotta was not to my liking) you should be fine. This is my second time with this diet. Many years ago when it was new, I got into bathing suit shape on this diet and I really think it is quite healthy. Good luck to you!
